How to create a Bootable USB drive to install Windows Versions using RUFUS?
Every one of us have felt the need to boot
our PC at some point of our lives, be it to upgrade your system to the latest
versions of windows or to get rid of the malwares in your PC or for any reason you
could think of. Now-a-days, bootable USB has become a basic need for anyone,
but still not many people have a clear idea about it. So here we are to your
rescue!
Before you do anything, you need to know about
the partitioning information of your system, whether it’s MBR(Master Boot
Record) or GPT(GUID Partition Table),because a system of MBR partition would not
accept a bootable USB of GPT and vice versa. In order to know which partition
to your system belongs,
Step1:
Right-click on your command
prompt and select Run as administrator.
Step2:Then type "diskpart" and press enter
Step3:
Step4:Then, enter "list disk" and press enter.Step5:You’ll get the information about the partition of your system.
Step6: Here, my system has the GPT partition type, because the GPT is starred. Just like this, you’ll get your system partition starred and mentions whether its GPT or MBR.
Now that you know your partition details, next thing we must do is to download “RUFUS” software. You can download it from this site, https://rufus.akeo.ie/
After downloading it, the .exe file would
directly open up to the software.
Then, you’ll insert your “empty” USB drive(minimum
4GB) to your PC, and RUFUS will detect it and show the drive name. Before
inserting your flash drive, make sure it’s empty. If it’s not empty, copy and
store those files in your flash drive somewhere, because this process will
cleanly format the flash.
In the “RUFUS” window, select your
partition scheme(MBR or GPT). The options include 3 partitions of which 2 of
them are MBR for BIOS or UEFI and MBR for UEFI. BIOS and UEFI are low-level
softwares that run when you boot your PC. BIOS can be found in older systems,
while UEFI is present in somewhat modern systems. You can make your choice of
GPT or MBR and the BIOS or UEFI you want
to use your USB in. Personally, I recommend UEFI. Now, I’m selecting the GPT
partition for UEFI, since my partitionis GPT and UEFI is the advanced one of
all.
You don’t need to change the other options.
Now, click on the image beside the ISO
image options. Click the image and locate your OS ISO file in your system. You
can now rename the “New volume label” as you wish.
Now everything is ready and click start.
After the status bar fills up, your USB
will become the Bootable USB.
Hope it helps you!
